Easter is almost upon us, and we are preparing for the
Easter Bunny’s big arrival. The kids are
excited, and to be honest, so are the adults. It is the one day a year where it is not a sin to overindulge in chocolate! Glorious chocolate!
We want to share on of our favourite recipes with you for
ROCKY ROAD!
Did you know that many think that traditional Rocky Road is
actually an Australian invention?! It is
thought that when sweets arrived in Australia melted from their long journey
from Europe, rather than throw out the “damaged” sweets, they would mix them
together with melted chocolate to hide the imperfections. Not 100% sure that is
entirely the truth, but hey, we are willing to claim the honoured title.
Home made Rocky Road is so simple to make, and it is far
better than any store bought version from the supermarket. We hope you give this one a try.
Rocky Road – Waterchoice Style
Ingredients
- Marshmallows – mix of white and pink
- Lolly snakes or raspberries
- Salted peanuts
- Shredded coconut
- Milk chocolate
- Chop up the
larger ingredients into smaller bite size pieces.
- Combine all the
ingredients, except for the chocolate in a mixing bowl
- Melt the
chocolate in the microwave, 20 seconds at a time in the microwave. Make sure to stir the chocolate in between.
- Pour the
chocolate over the goodies in the mixing bowl, and stir until gooey chocolate
is covering every piece.
- Pour the
mixture into a slice tray. Be sure to
line the tray with baking paper so it doesn’t stick.
- Push down on
the top with a spoon to make it even.
- Set in the
fridge.
- Cut into
squares to serve once set.
And there you
have it. The original recipes call for
glace cherries, but the kids much prefer the red lollies. And it is so simple to make that the mixtures
and possibilities are endless.
Just be sure to
drink plenty of filtered water after your day of indulgence. Your stomach, digestive system and skin will
thank you for it!
We wish you all a very Happy Easter, however you
choose to celebrate. We hope that it is
a time of happiness and a time for family.
