Did you know that the adult human body is made up of approximately 50 - 70 percent water? And it is vital to stay hydrated and replenish the body's water supply by drinking water. But did you know that we can also eat our water? Yep! Most unprocessed foods, such as fruit and vegetables are choc full of water. For example, fruits such as apricots, blueberries, oranges, pineapples, plums and raspberries contain over 80 percent water. And fruits such as cantaloupe (rockmelon) and watermelon have some of the highest water content, at more than 90 percent.
Let's take a closer look!
Celery
Celery is a whopping 90 percent water. This crunchy green veggie is great for our digestion and is excellent for helping to reduce inflammation.
Watermelon
Water is actually in the name! Watermelon is rich in vitamins A, C and potassium and is 92 percent water. We love to blend frozen watermelon, add a little mint and a squeeze of lime, and you have yourself a hydrating summer treat.
Iceberg lettuce
The most simple of all the lettuce varieties has the largest water content. 96 percent to be exact!
Cucumber
A favourite of ours that has loads of fibre and is 96 percent water. Both fibre and water are extremely important for a healthy digestive system.
Strawberries
The little strawberry has to be one of our favourite summer fruits. These sweet little berries are 92 percent water and are packed full of antioxidants and folate. Both folate and antioxidants have been known to help reduce blood pressure.
Capsicum
Whether you prefer red, green or yellow, the humble capsicum is made up of approximately 92 percent water. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, B6, folate and dietary fibre.
Peaches
Peaches are deliciously sweet and are a nutritional powerhouse. They are packed with antioxidants, and a multitude of vitamins including C, A, E and K. Oh, and they are 89 percent water.
Spinach
We all know how important it is to eat our greens, and at 92 percent water, spinach will help boost your daily water intake. Spinach is rich in potassium, magnesium and B vitamins, all of which help to boost energy.

Tomatoes
Tomatoes, are they are a fruit or a vegetable? Whatever they are, they are made up of 95 percent water. There is a huge variety of tomatoes to choose from, and they are full of vitamin A that helps to keep our skin, eyes and immune system healthy. For the record, they're a fruit!
Mushrooms
Mushrooms are made up of 92 percent water. They are an excellent source of vitamin B2, which is important for your skin and nervous system. Vitamin B2 also helps to reduce tiredness and release energy from the food you eat.
Broccoli
Love your broccoli? Well, it is made up of 90 percent water. Broccoli is an important source of folate, vitamin K, vitamin A, calcium and iron. Eat your water! Eat your greens!
